I have finally figured out who George W. Bush reminds me of.

Me.

All the posturing about how this time it will be different, the "no, really, I have proof" that the WMD were there, the refusal to accept the external judgment of the situation, and everything is merely part of the cycle of self-deception.

The press and the Republican leadership play the part of the parents and/or counselors, charmed by the underachiever, who believe him when he swears that this time things have changed.

No, really they have!

God help us all. And I don't even believe in God.

An important difference is that intelligence is an important part of your persona, and the lack of it is an important part of his. (I'm not necessarily making any claims about your relative levels of intelligence -- I know you're one of the smartest people I know in some ways, but I really have no reliable data about GWB's intelligence.)

Big Diff :)

There's a big difference, though between you. You learn. :) Changing the self is THE hardest - I'm still working on my stuff. Hopefully as we mature, we learn how to deal with our aspects that we want to adjust/change. But some folks don't seem to want to make the effort - or else they see no need to change. With someone in the seat of power like GWB, that's a scary thought.

And God does help, belief not required. :D The galactic depths sing in E-flat, did you read about that? Totally cool.

I agree that "an important difference is that intelligence is an important part of your persona, and the lack of it is an important part of his."

You are not on his level. He failed repeatedly at management and yet ran for president anyway. By taking his weaknesses to the oval office, he committed sins against the people.
