This is a ~5 foot tall Elwood Pattern Works enlarger that is not mounted, and would need to be. I think it has to be bolted.
Is the enlarger something any of you local to Boston might have an interest in or for which you might know a really good home?

Date: 2010-01-26 07:06 pm (UTC)Susan turned it down, preferring it go to a friend or friend of friend over the money - figuring it is worth a lot more than the $300, if it comes to that.

Date: 2010-01-26 09:47 pm (UTC)Newer lathes, with good features, run about 1,000-1,500. You can, of course, go higher. (Much, if you want an industrial machine.) For that you get a new machine, with new gimmicks and a warranty, easy parts availability and accessories available.
If he buys this, he has to discover if it works, if it is racked, fix it if needed, replace the motor if necessary, then store it and find a buyer.
You might be able to sell it, person to person, for more money, of course.
Check what he sells lathes for in stores. Figure he'd offer half that.
