Some months ago, in conversation with [livejournal.com profile] dzmonster, she mentioned a book she was reading and I told her it sounded like the sort of book I would really like.

It was a birthday present from her given to me at the end of Splash and I read it last night.

It was the sort of book I really like and wish I had written.

It deals with issues of what if's and alternative time lines as well as with bright adolescents. It deals with the pain of loss and open-endedness and questions about how all this works.

It deals with change and fear and embracing of change. It deals with understanding and growth.

For those who hate books that lead to pat answers and simple solutions, it will leave them satisfied and wanting more. It does me.

I recommend this book, though it may leave you slightly uncomfortable.
