Date: 2005-03-02 10:54 am (UTC)My Father's father was Joseph as well. He was called Joe. My Great Grandfather, William was called Will or William - my brother is Bill. They made a point of giving us different nicknames than the person after we were named had.
I have been Josh from before I was aware of a name at all. It is, in many ways, as much my 'birth name' as Joseph is.
