A few touch points...

Being vs. Doing
We focus so much of or attention on what we are doing - for work, as students, etc. We define ourselves as our work.
Yet, there is so much more to us than that. We are not 'just' moms, dads, painters, plumbers... Those may be part us, in terms of daily existence. Yet... seldom are our existences so simple as that.
Our essence has as much worth as our actions, and sometimes more. We can be so busy trying that we forget the impact of being just who we are.
*****
Projection
It is far to easy to assume that others would behave in the fashion in which we would, when put in the same situation. It is far to easy to expect a negative from somebody than risk their surprising us with a positive.
*****
Assumptions - 1
As I read Sheroes and LJ, I am struck by how often a person will post a negative piece, and a number of respondents will busily start defending themselves, without knowing that the piece is aimed at them. It must be aimed at them, beause to their minds, it fits their situation perfectly.
I suggest that if you think something you are reading is aimed at you that, while it may or may not be aimed at you, reflet on why you are so sure that it is - and then address the issue raised, not the person by whom it is raised. Clearly, you feel there is some connection - perhaps there is something to be done.
At a minimum, consider seeking information about it if is aimed at you and then responding if it is, but not before.

Assumptions - 2
Gilbert and Sullivan were right.
Skim milk masquerades as cream.

but what good is an essence that doesn't translate to an action?
