Reading the NY Times sports section, I found one of the more amazing implications I have read in a little while.

"Marshall lamented that coaches "keep teaching the traditional pitching motion," even though pitchers keep hurting their arms. At his training center, where the students live for 40 or 48 weeks, he teaches his method of pitching, which employs Newton's three laws of motion."

It's no wonder those other pitchers' arms get hurt if they don't follow Newton's Laws of Motion!

I was reading a recent New Yorker (no, the New Yorkness is not a theme, merely a conincidence), and there was an article about a newish play being performed - Oedipus in Palm Springs.

Now, the play sounds entertaining enough in its own right - with one character whose responses always take the form of platitudes, I would be amused every time she was on stage!

From the New Yorker review:
**Joni's habit of answering every question with a homily becomes apparent when Con and Fran (Lisa Kron and Maureen Angelos) arrive at the resort for a weekend getaway. They've been there before, and, after Con expresses her enthusiasm for the white stucco bungalows, the blue skies, and the pool, Fran asks Joni whether she has done some renovating. Joni responds, “Time passes. Some things fall away. Others take their place.”**

The review, in its entirety, can be found at:

The group that created/is performing this play is The Five Lesbian Brothers. Anybody seen any of their prior works - or this one?
