I've been reading about Alito's membership in 'Concerned Princeton Alumin' - the group that wanted to roll back admission of women to Princeton, complained about increases in minority enrollment, and pushed to get ROTC back on campus.

A lot has been made of both his membership to it and his inclusion of it on his job application in 1985, not long before the author of the essay worked with him. How can he claim not to know or remember much if it was featured on his application, they want to know!

I have concluded, after reading and watching, that a stance he took previously is exactly right. He said what he needed to say to get a job in the Reagan administration.

He was asked, following such a statement: "How do we know you are not saying what you think you need to say to get this job?"

I think that is an absurd question. This is a job interview - be SURE he is saying what he thinks he needs to!

I don't pretend to have the foggiest what he will do as a Justice anymore. I can see that the long term ramifications of his actions/decisions surprise him - and that, far more than any judicial position, disturbs me.
