It started with an automated phone call from a confused company, which awakened me about an hour earlier than I might have wished to awaken.
It continued with a (tardy) trip in to meet and hang out with
bookdivalia. I think we had a good time, but at the tail end (or 30 minutes before it would have been), she beat a fairly hasty retreat probably brought about by the fact that I had about as much useful or engaging conversation as the average chipmunk - capable of making noise, but not particularly meaningful to listen to! I think I would have pulled an "I think I should head along" had my co-conversationalist been as scintillating as I was being. I hope we get to chat IRL again before she meanders west - and with me in a more alert frame of mind!
After a few hours of downtime at home - more than I expected, probably not more than I needed - Susan and I headed over to see a bunch of friends for a caroling party. Guests of honor included Scott and Ivy McCloud and their kids, Sky and Winter. While we knew the parents, we had never gotten to interact with the kids and it was a treat. Many other familiar faces from as long ago as 1975 or so were there, as well. We both had a good time before a very late retreat home.
In the morning, I head to Logan to retrieve
ratesjul, who is in New England for a week before heading to Europe. Then lunch with my parents, maybe, and who knows what the evening brings. Other friends are in from the mid-west. Still others have gatherings at night. Monday has a couple gatherings to consider, as well. Busy, busy, busy.
