A Voice from the Past

One of the things that you will hear from time to time about folks in various of the helping professions, or from people who insist on meddling in the lives of others, is a sort of wistfulness about those who have touched their lives, those whose lives they have touched...
There are far too many, over the course of a few years, let alone a few decades, to believe that you will ever know what happened to them all.
This can be especially true of those with whom one's break-point in time was less than smooth. There ceases to be any expectation that you will find out, have contact with them again. A former client with whom one has an amicable parting might seem a reasonable point of inquiry, or at least a chance of hearing from somewhere down the road.
Those with whom the break was more abrupt - and more laden with negative burden, regardless of the cause, the source, the kind of understanding or misunderstanding - these one just files away, with a sense of loss as well as incompleteness.
Tonight, one of those has gone from a giant question mark to an exclamation point. A set of (nearly) twenty year old unanswered questions now has a set of answers, instead - and happy, positive answers!
No, no details. Some of you may have heard the story of "how do you get the hospital to treat a minor who doesn't have a legal guardian to sign her in?" and if you have, this is the person from whom I have heard.
If you haven't, well... it is still that person. Alive and doing well.
*grins broadly*
