Town Meeting redux
Oct. 22nd, 2003 01:01 amI toild two people from places other than home that I was going to town meeting
They both wanted to know why - given my reaction the last time!
I went. Probably the best moment in it was Susan's arrival - as she did not know that I was going to be there. She showed up latish, after an out-of-state appointemnt - and as she was about to walk in, I walked out! joy!
The selectmen proposed buying a tract of land for $295,000. The argument was that it would help to possibly protect a wildlife corridor. I suspect that it will.
But we are ina tight budget- THAT is much of the reason that Susan's job went away last spring. And also why the library folks keep being told not to propose anything - no money.
So, I asked the selectmen if the open space is a higher priority than the library.
One of them responded that it must be - IT is on the warrant for consideration and the library is not
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I chided him, and not gently. THAT is not planning. (full text of my remarks may be in the paper later)
