The Adolescence of P-1
Apr. 19th, 2004 12:23 amI would love to spoil the book for you. It is a wonderful (to my mind) plot and telling of the plot, even if the plot was not new when Ryan wrote it.
But I shall not tell you the plot. I will, OTOH, share a few of what I thought were the more amusing moments.
"CUR ALLOC 114.......266098K"
This terribly frightens our hero - the computer program is now controlling 266,098KB of computer storage! It's a MONSTER!!!!
*giggle*
"The configuration was so large, so unwieldy... the main sorage device held 268 megabytes of information!"
*giggles more*
"The banking business must have been good that year. The data links were all infrared laser. Speed: 40-90 kilobaud. Very fast."
The story is fine. the details? Just a bit dated!
