Interview Tomorrow

Tomorrow, I will be interviewing for a position as assistant director of an educational program comparatively local. Not tech writing. Not New York City. Not Braintree or Quincy. Not data entry.

Making a difference to kids on a daily basis.

Radical! Good wishes between 9am and 2pm are invited. Yes, it IS a long interview!!! I will have seen at least 11 people by the end of the day and possibly more. My guess (hope?) is that this suggests that I am a serious candidate for the job.

Yay!!!

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose

I have been cleaning my office - and Gennie wasn;t even here! (Yes, I was procrastinating something...)

Among the artifacts that I have unearthed is a trove of articles that I clipped from various newspapers and magazines over the period from about 1883 to 1994. There are a few pieces in there from earlier still, though I think they were added to the stash rather than created/culled at the same time.

In some wyas, there was little there that surprised me. In other ways, it drove home what I already knew intellectually. The Education Crisis and the School Reform process are ongoing, neverending issues. If more than a year or two goes by without another stone cast, it is a rarity. 3 years seems to be the longest that they can go with a MAJOR issue.

And longer ago than 20 years.

I have, in front of me, the Newsweek issue: Morals on the Campus. It examines the assumptions on the campus and how they relate to 'tomorrow's society.'

April 6, 1964.

More on this stuff after tomorrow's interview, if there is any interest in antediluvian history.
