Film Class
Oct. 6th, 2005 11:17 amOne aspect of this class is Journaling the movies we watch as a group. We are supposed to write Journal, Review, and Screening Reports for each film (2-3 pages per film). The films are not yet selected.
In addition, each of us is to write 2 papers. We select a movie to watch individually, and then write an Analysis Paper on each. These are to be 5-15 pages. Key questions for an Analytical Essay:
1) Do you have a thesis? Is it clearly stated by the end of the first or second paragraph of your analysis?
2) Do you have a series of reasons supporting the thesis? Are these arranged in logical and convincing order (with the strongest reason coming last)?
3) Are your supporting reasons backd up? Do your segmentation and stylistic analysis provide specific evidence and examples for each reason you offer?
4) Does your bginning orient your reader to the direction of your argument? Does your concluding paragraph reiterate your thesis and provide a vivid ending?
Two questions for my readers, those of you who give a damn...
1) What movies would you recommend to the group? The instructor requested input. (One movie will be in the theater - any movie that is current or will be the weekend of the 14th that goes on your list?)
2) What movies do you think would make for interesting viewing and analysis, knowing that I will be stopping and starting and stopping and starting the films in question many times as I analyze and seek supporting evidence?
