I thought the most egregious idiocy was in the comments. I only got half way through before giving up.

Taxation is stealing, unless I benefit from it.

Unless I benefit directly from it. Using my money to pave the roads I drive on doesn't count, either.

I suppose he's one of the people who would caution me against going into primary care, saying I would make "only" $110k a year, on average.

(To which I respond, "Well, I suppose I'll have to skip the maid, gardener, nanny, and private school, but I'm pretty sure I can squeeze a pony in there somewhere...")

I find it interesting that some of the commenters feel taxing the rich is "stealing", but taxing the poor is not. My state has some of the most regressive taxes in the nation and is currently considering an income tax. None of the rich feel they are "stealing" from the rest of us under the current system, even though we pay a much larger portion of our incomes, but they've used that line of reasoning to oppose an income tax!

"After buying everything I want, I spend everything I have".

Not much of a defense.

According to this NYT article, Mr Henderson has saved roughly $54,707 dollars since 2004 in the temporary tax cut. In 2011, he'll pay back an extra $7,484 of that.

That's not to say that a $7,500 payment is chicken feed - even in his bracket. But, overall, that "temporary tax cut" did him an awful lot of good.
