For a week or so, now, I have been meaning to post about the petty annoyances in a book I was reading. It had minor plot inconsistencies within pages of each other, let alone the normal distribution throughout the text.
I find myself, instead, prompted by the contract I have been sent by a hotel. I am considering this site for next Spring's Beyond IQ conference near Boston. The first issue concerns postponements of my function.
"In order not to be charged a cancellation fee, your function must be rescheduled and consumed within one month of original function date."
I am not sure I or my attendees would care for that! The second deals with time differently.
"If cancellation occurs less than 72 hours of the scheduled function, all ordered food and beverage charges will be assessed."
Yes, these are minor details, but having just been reading about a company that lost about $2,000,000 because of an extra comma, I am perhaps more conscious of this than usual.
