This afternoon in Minnesota, John McCain thanked the faithful for their enthusiasm and said that he would fight hard to win the presidency, but also asked his followers to be respectful of Senator Obama.
McCain went on to add that Obama is "a decent person and a person who you do not have to be scared as president of the United States."

Date: 2008-10-11 02:02 pm (UTC)It's actually really, really sad that he had to say something like that. I mean "a person who you do not have to be scared as president of the United States?" It sounds like he's talking to five-year-olds.

i have a better one for you...
Date: 2008-12-21 08:34 am (UTC)i can link obama's political success(es) to star trek in 9 steps or fewer.
no, seriously, i can.
-- prior to his president-elect status, obama was a u.s. senator (illinois)
-- prior to his u.s. senatorial status, obama was an illinois state senator
-- this (senate) role + 2004 dnc speech arguably lifted obama to visibility
-- obama (initially) ran against republican jack ryan for the senate seat
-- jack ryan had been married to jeri ryan ("seven of nine") 5 yrs earlier
-- jack + jeri had an ugly divorce, records were sealed 'to protect the kids'
-- when finally unsealed, the records cited exhibitionist sex-club behaviors
-- jack ryan withdrew from the illinois senatorial race, under some shame
-- obama easily defeated replacement alan keyes, 70%-to-27%
always gives me a little chuckle. though the impact to their private lives must have been regrettable, i can't help but wonder if jeri laughed all the way to the bank.
