How to Construct Society: The Lens of Science Fiction
1-3pm
Sometimes, understanding one's own society or culture requires looking at it from the perspectives of another. Science Fiction, at its best, can provide a tool for such examination, for checking assumptions and questioning conclusions. We will read and discuss a number of works in an effort to apply that tool, both with regard to the society we have and to the society we may wish.

The Role of Schools, The Role of Teachers, The Role of Counselors
3-4:30pm
In our current world, the roles of schools, teachers, and counselors are different than they were just a decade or two ago. How much should they occupy of what has been considered the province of the family? Where are the boundaries, both between these and between these and the home? As schools start bringing in families and governments move to send home to parents reports on things like a child's weight, it is time to pause and reflect a bit on their mission. Join us in that reflection.

Dude, I'm totally at both. I know most of the stuff being taught at HSSP these days, so I'll be happy to sort of..spend my afternoon with you..that is, assuming you want me there. Unless of course there IS an interesting class offered that conflicts with one of them, but I'll definitely take at least one.

But yeah, since I'm not really interested in going to HSSP as a whole program itself anymore, since it's getting kind of immature and full of teenagers who either a) skip classes and blow up things all over the institute, b) act so annoying in the classes that it just ruins the whole thing, I'll probably be able to devote enough time to your stuff.

Word. But also full of giggly girls who spend all of their time laughing and petting each other's hair. *cough*
